Vacuum Pin Tubes

EVACUATED PINTUBES – simply the fastest and easiest way to sample molten metal.
A perfect pin sample in just seconds!
The special design of these Pintubes sets them apart from all others. This is because the weakened portion is on the side.
The heavy base enters the metal first and will not melt to break vacuum. The weakened side portion melts instantly on contact with molten metal. The melted homogeneous sample cannot escape or drain after it has been drawn in by the vacuum.
Samples can be drawn from a stream, ladle, or directly from within a crucible.
The metal is trapped within the tube to form “A solid pin sample every time”.
The evacuated Pintube requires no clean up, or preparation.
Available in three (3) sizes:
# 18290 – 0.139″ I.D. ( +/- 0.01″ )
# 18294 – 0.159″ I.D. ( +/- 0.01″ )
# 18295 – 0.236″ I.D. ( +/- 0.01″ )
How it works
1. Place pin tube in holder.
2. Quickly immerse pin tube in molten metal.
3. Slight “jolt” indicates filled chamber. Quickly remove.
4. Place in chilled water, then remove glass by
rapping against a hard surface.
Special Spring Steel Tongs are available to hold the tubes for safe and convenient handling.
