8″ x 10″ Ball/Rod Mill with Rolling Rings – Mild Steel

These mild steel laboratory ball and rod mills will grind from 1000 to 2500 grams per batch. The yoke is attached to the lid for fast, easy use, and the heavy duty construction includes large rolling rings to keep the mills from walking on the roll drives. The lid features an exclusive o-ring for positive sealing of either wet or dry charges.

Batch ball and rod mills are designed to perform laboratory grinding of rock, soil, and ore samples. Ball mills typically are used for finer grinding and have feed sizes of 0.125 inches (3mm)

Rod mills typically are used for coarser grinding with feed sizes up to 0.5 inches (12mm).

Grinding media for the mills is sold separately.

Mills are constructed of tube with a welded base. Machined rolling rings are driven by rubber coverd rollers on the drive unit (sold separately). Mill speed is generally a calculated number and is a percentage of the “critical speed”, but is typically between 55 and 80 rpm. Four lifter bars are fully welded into the inside of the mill. The mill uses an acme threaded screw closure with a captured fixture to attach to the lid. The closing mechanism and lid are a single piece.
